Starting on page LA8, a list of the Louisiana English Language Arts Grade-Level Expectations (GLEs). The GLEs describe the specific skills and strategies that you will be expected to learn during this school year. The reading selections and activities throughout this book will help you with these skills and strategies, many of which will be tested in the English Language Arts portion of the Grade 8 LEAP test. The tests at the end of each unit in this book contain questions similar to those you'll find on the LEAP test. Practice with the Unit Tests will help you check how well you have understood what you've read in this book and will also help prepare you for the LEAP test.
